Laehn, 50, of Springbrook, Wisconsin, who tragically lost his life in a two-vehicle collision involving a semi-truck and an SUV on Thursday morning, October 22, 2026, in the Town of Hayward, Sawyer County. According to the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office, the crash was reported at approximately 6:52 a.m. on U.S. Highway 63 near the entrance to Select Excavating. Preliminary information indicates that a 2020 Kenworth semi-tractor pulling a loaded log trailer, operated by 65-year-old William J. Anderson of Glidden, Wisconsin, was entering the northbound lane of the highway from Select Excavating when a 2010 Honda CR-V traveling in the left southbound lane struck the trailer’s triple axles.

Jason was driving the Honda CR-V and was its only occupant. Tragically, he sustained fatal injuries in the collision. The semi-truck driver reportedly suffered no injuries. Deputies, emergency medical personnel, Wisconsin State Patrol officers, and members of the Town of Hayward Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene. The crash remains under investigation by the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, and Sawyer County Medical Examiner.
