With heavy hearts, we remember Terrence Cubit, 26, and Laquanda Callis, whose lives were tragically lost following a devastating three-vehicle crash in Victoria, Texas. What happened on August 12, 2026, has left families, friends, and loved ones grieving an unimaginable loss.

According to police, the collision occurred at the intersection of Sam Houston and Lilac Lane. Investigators say a pickup truck driven by 22-year-old Xavier Cantu struck the rear of an SUV driven by Terrence Cubit. The impact sent the SUV into a utility pole, while Cantu’s truck subsequently collided with another pickup.

Tragically, Cubit suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, Laquanda Callis, sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in San Antonio for emergency medical treatment.

For more than two months, her loved ones faced the difficult reality of her injuries and continued hoping for the best. Sadly, on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, her family confirmed that she had succumbed to the injuries sustained in the crash.

Police say the collision involved a suspected impaired driver, making this tragedy another painful reminder of the devastating consequences of suspected drunk driving.
