In Loving Memory of David Charles, 23, and Mariah Tinajero, 21

With heavy hearts, we remember David Charles, 23, and Mariah Tinajero, 21, both of Elgin, Illinois, whose lives were tragically cut short in a devastating crash in Belvidere on Saturday night. Their sudden deaths have brought heartbreak to their loved ones and serve as a painful reminder of how unexpectedly life can change.

According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 10:53 p.m. as David was driving a 2014 Infiniti Q50 southbound on Poplar Grove Road. As the vehicle approached the overpass at Business 20, it left the roadway, struck a concrete guardrail, overturned several times, and landed in the backyard of a home on Indian Dancer Trail.

David was transported to a local hospital, where he tragically died from his injuries. Mariah, who was riding as a passenger, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

A child was also traveling in the vehicle and had been secured in a child safety seat. A neighbor helped remove the child from the wreckage before the child was taken to a local hospital. Thankfully, authorities reported that the child is expected to make a full recovery.

Although David and Mariah’s lives ended far too soon, their memories will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved them. Their families now face the difficult journey of navigating grief while holding on to the memories they shared.

May their loved ones find strength, comfort, and peace during this heartbreaking time. May David and Mariah rest in eternal peace, forever remembered and never forgotten.

The crash remains under investigation.
