In Loving Memory of William R. Marbuery, 53 — Tragically Killed in a Motorcycle Crash on I-75

With heavy hearts, we remember William R. Marbuery, 53, of Cleveland, Ohio, who tragically lost his life in a fatal motorcycle crash on Interstate 75 in Frenchtown Township, Michigan, on Monday, October 26, 2026. His sudden passing is a heartbreaking reminder of how quickly life can change and how deeply a life lost can affect the people who knew and loved that person.

According to Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough, the crash was reported at approximately 2:18 p.m. on northbound I-75, north of Post Road. Preliminary investigations indicate that Marbuery was riding a 2016 Harley-Davidson motorcycle in the center lane when, for reasons that remain unknown, his motorcycle struck the rear of a trailer being pulled by a white 1992 Kenworth tractor-trailer operated by 62-year-old Jeffrey Pence Sandy of Romeo, Michigan.

Following the collision, Marbuery fell from his motorcycle, which subsequently caught fire. The tractor-trailer came to a controlled stop in the center travel lane. At the time of the crash, northbound traffic was congested because of a lane closure farther ahead, where the highway narrowed from three lanes to one.

Tragically, Marbuery was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed that he was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. The truck driver was wearing his seat belt and was not reported to have sustained injuries in the information released by authorities.

Investigators have not yet determined whether speed or intoxicating substances contributed to the crash. The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation.

Emergency personnel from the Frenchtown Township Fire Department, Monroe Community Ambulance, the Michigan Department of Transportation, the Michigan State Police, and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Victim Services Unit and Chaplain Program responded to assist at the scene.

As family members, friends, and loved ones face the painful reality of this loss, William’s passing serves as a solemn reminder to cherish every moment and never take the gift of life for granted. Behind every name in a tragic traffic report is a human life, a personal story, and a place in the hearts of others.

May William R. Marbuery be remembered with dignity and compassion. May those who loved him find strength and comfort in the memories they shared, and may they be surrounded by support as they navigate the difficult days ahead.

Rest in peace, William R. Marbuery. You will be remembered, and your life will not be forgotten.

The crash remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Services Division and Uniformed Services Division. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the sheriff’s office at 734-240-7725.
