A devastating and deeply disturbing crime has shaken a community in Alabama after a mother and her two children—including a pregnant teenager—were found murdered inside their home early Monday morning. Authorities have described the killings as exceptionally violent, leaving both investigators and residents grappling with the scale of the tragedy.

According to Paul Burch, the victims have been identified as Lisa Ferguson, 46; her daughter, 17-year-old Keziah Luker; and her 12-year-old son, Thomas Cordell. Luker was approximately eight months pregnant at the time of her death. In a heartbreaking contrast to the violence, Luker’s 18-month-old daughter was found alive and unharmed inside the residence.

The incident occurred in the Wilmer community, a rural area within Mobile County. Sheriff Burch said the investigation began around 2:30 a.m. when a concerned family member went to the home located along Auble Moody Road. The concern was initially raised by the father of Luker’s toddler and unborn child, who works offshore. He reportedly noticed unusual activity on her phone through the Life360 app and became worried, particularly given her advanced pregnancy. Unable to reach her directly, he contacted a relative, who then went to the home and made the grim discovery.

Authorities revealed that all three victims were found in separate rooms and had been restrained using zip ties or flex handcuffs. The details of the violence have been described as especially severe. Ferguson suffered stab wounds and had her throat slit. Luker was shot, while Thomas Cordell also had his throat slit and sustained injuries described as nearly resulting in decapitation. Investigators say the brutality of the attack suggests a deliberate and targeted act.

Sheriff Burch emphasized that, based on early findings, investigators believe the victims were specifically targeted. However, a clear motive has not yet been determined. He also noted that the killings do not appear to be related to a domestic dispute, raising further questions about who may be responsible and why the family was attacked.

The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the Wilmer community and beyond. Neighbors and residents are struggling to comprehend how such violence could occur in what is typically considered a quiet area.
