With heavy hearts, we remember Tyler Zellar, a 34-year-old truck driver from Flint, Michigan, who tragically lost his life following a devastating rollover crash on Interstate 69 in Lapeer County. His unexpected passing is a heartbreaking reminder of how quickly life can change and how deeply a sudden loss can affect the people who love us.
According to the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office, as reported by ABC12, the fatal crash occurred at approximately 9:46 a.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, on eastbound I-69 in Attica Township, east of Lake Pleasant Road.
Investigators reported that the truck was traveling in the right lane when it crossed the left lane and overturned in the grassy median. The truck was hauling large boulders, which were thrown across both the eastbound and westbound sides of the highway. The vehicle also leaked fuel, creating additional concerns at the scene. Tyler was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Thankfully, authorities reported no injuries or vehicle damage involving other motorists from the boulders. Both directions of I-69 were closed while crews worked to clear the roadway and address the hazards left behind by the crash.
Investigators have stated that impairment was not a contributing factor. However, the exact circumstances that caused the truck to leave its lane remain unknown, and the investigation is ongoing.
