Red West Pizza Wilmington Shooting: Police are investigating a shooting at or near Red West Pizza in Wilmington’s Harbor Area after multiple reports of gunfire prompted a major emergency response near Pacific Coast Highway and Bayview Avenue.

According to preliminary scanner traffic and early reports from the scene, two victims were located following the shooting. Authorities said an 18-year-old male was found in the parking lot and was reportedly unconscious and not breathing when officers and paramedics arrived. A second victim, identified as a 25-year-old male, reportedly suffered a gunshot wound to the lower back inside the restaurant. Emergency responders indicated the second victim was initially conscious and breathing while receiving medical treatment.

Investigators recovered at least one shell casing inside the business as officers secured the restaurant and surrounding parking lot. The incident triggered a heavy police response, with portions of Pacific Coast Highway shut down while authorities established a perimeter around the area.

Law enforcement agencies requested air support, K-9 units, and additional patrol officers to assist in searching nearby streets, alleyways, and businesses for the suspect. Witnesses described seeing officers moving quickly through the neighborhood as helicopters circled overhead during the search operation.

Scanner reports described the suspect as a Hispanic male, approximately 5-foot-7 with short hair. He was reportedly wearing a black sweater featuring white lettering that read “Only God Can Judge,” along with black shorts, black socks, and black shoes. At one point during the investigation, officers reportedly detained a possible suspect near McDonald Avenue while additional units continued searching the area.

Authorities have not yet confirmed a motive for the shooting or announced any formal arrests. The identities of the victims have also not been publicly released pending notification of family members.

Residents and drivers are being advised to avoid the area surrounding Pacific Coast Highway while police continue their investigation and maintain the perimeter. Detectives are expected to review surveillance footage and interview witnesses as they work to determine the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
