The Marana, Arizona community is grieving following a devastating incident on Memorial Day that claimed the lives of Mikaela Durfey and Brian Schnurr, leaving family members, friends, and loved ones struggling to process the loss.

According to the Marana Police Department, officers were dispatched around 5:00 p.m. on May 25 to a residence on West Alegria Drive after reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located Mikaela Durfey in the driveway suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite emergency response efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators identified her ex-husband, Brian Schnurr, as the primary suspect and began an immediate search for his vehicle, described as a blue Dodge Challenger. Authorities later located the vehicle near North Silverbell Road, where officers safely recovered the couple’s two young children.
