In Loving Memory of Linus John Westberg
With profound sadness and heartfelt remembrance, we honor the remarkable life of Linus John Westberg, who passed away at the age of 89, leaving behind a legacy built on faith, family, storytelling, and genuine human connection. His passing marks the end of an extraordinary chapter for those who loved him, admired him, and were touched by his warmth, humor, and unforgettable presence.
Linus Westberg was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, respected broadcaster, and cherished friend. For 61 beautiful years, he shared an enduring love and partnership with his lifelong best friend and wife, Ellen. Together they built a family rooted in love, strength, and unwavering support — a bond that remained central to Linus’s life until his final days.
He was the incomparable father of Anna Westberg, Kirsten Westberg, and Paul Westberg, and a deeply proud grandfather whose love for his grandchildren was evident in every interaction. His family was the center of his world, and he treasured every moment spent with them. Whether sharing stories, laughter, wisdom, or simply his presence, Linus created memories that will remain forever etched in the hearts of those closest to him.
His grandchildren — Ingrid Sinclair, Gabriel Spelay, Anna Bailey, Erik Bailey, Margareta Bailey, Josephine Bailey, Ivy, Klaire, and John — were among his greatest joys. To them, he was more than a grandfather; he was a storyteller, mentor, source of comfort, and living example of integrity and devotion.
Throughout his life, Linus carried a deep and unwavering Catholic faith that guided his values, relationships, and sense of purpose. His faith was reflected not only in worship, but in the compassion, generosity, and kindness he extended to others. He believed in the dignity of every person and in the power of stories to connect people across generations and experiences.
Professionally, Linus Westberg was known as a legendary broadcaster and gifted storyteller. Behind the microphone, he possessed a rare ability to capture attention and bring stories to life with authenticity and heart. His voice became familiar and trusted to many, and his passion for communication left an enduring mark on the broadcasting community and beyond.
Storytelling was not simply his profession — it was part of who he was. Linus understood that every person carried a story worth telling, and he had a remarkable ability to make others feel seen and heard. Whether on air, in conversation, or gathered with family and friends, he brought energy, insight, humor, and sincerity to every interaction.
Outside of broadcasting, Linus found joy on the golf course, where he enjoyed both the game and the companionship it brought. Yet even there, his greatest joy remained the people around him. He was someone who valued relationships deeply and approached life with enthusiasm, integrity, and gratitude.
Those who knew Linus will remember not only his accomplishments, but also his spirit — his unmatched sense of humor, his wisdom, his compassion, and the warmth he brought into every room. He was a man whose presence made others feel welcome and whose encouragement left lasting impressions.
As family and friends gather to honor his life at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on May 16, 2026, they do so not only in mourning, but in celebration of a life richly lived. They celebrate a man whose love of family never wavered, whose faith remained steadfast, and whose voice and stories will continue to echo through the lives he touched.
The family’s gratitude toward Dr. Dwip Prajapatti and the team at the Central Alberta Cancer Centre reflects the compassion and care shown during Linus’s final chapter — support deeply appreciated during such a difficult time.
Though Linus John Westberg may no longer be physically present, his legacy lives on powerfully through his family, his stories, his faith, and the countless lives he impacted over nearly nine decades. He leaves behind not only memories, but values and lessons that will continue to inspire generations to come.
Rest peacefully, Linus.
Your voice, your laughter, your stories, and your love will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew you.
