The Anderson community is mourning the heartbreaking and untimely loss of Elijah Patrick Chapman, 20, whose life was tragically cut short following a single-vehicle crash on Sunday afternoon along Abbeville Highway.

According to the Anderson County Coroner’s Office, emergency crews responded shortly before 4:45 p.m. to reports of a serious crash near the intersection of Abbeville Highway and Middleton Road. Upon arrival, first responders found Elijah trapped inside his vehicle. He was carefully extricated from the wreckage and rushed to AnMed for emergency medical treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he later succumbed to the severe injuries he sustained in the crash.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Elijah was traveling on Abbeville Highway when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree. The coroner determined that he died from multiple traumatic injuries, and his death has been ruled accidental.
