Damien Combs Death, Obituary HAMMOND, La. — The Tangipahoa Parish community is grappling with a deeply tragic and complex incident after a 45-year-old man, identified as Damien Combs, died following a shooting allegedly carried out by his 13-year-old son outside a Hammond school.
According to the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office, the incident occurred on April 14 near the Tangipahoa Alternative Programs campus on Crystal Street during morning drop-off. Authorities say the situation began when the teenager refused to exit the vehicle. As Combs attempted to leave the carpool line and drive the child home, investigators allege the teen produced a firearm and shot his father inside the vehicle.

Authorities reported that after the crash, the teenager exited the vehicle while still holding the firearm and began walking toward the school. A school resource officer quickly intervened and stopped the teen before he could reach the campus, preventing further potential harm.
Law enforcement officials have confirmed that the case remains under active investigation. As details continue to emerge, the incident underscores the profound impact of violence involving youth and the lasting consequences for families and communities alike.
