Cody Nelson Death, Obituary: In Loving Memory of Cody Nelson (2001–2024)

In Loving Memory of Cody Nelson (2001–2024)

This week, Sobeys in Gravenhurst is coming together as a community to honour the life and memory of Cody Nelson, a cherished team member, friend, and devoted father whose life was tragically taken far too soon.

Cody, just 23 years old, was a valued member of the Gravenhurst Sobeys team for more than two years. He was known for his warm smile, positive attitude, and the genuine kindness he showed to everyone he met. Customers frequently shared compliments about Cody, and he left a lasting impression on both shoppers and fellow staff members. His presence brightened the store, and his loss is deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Above all else, Cody was an incredibly proud and loving father. His 2.5-year-old son was his entire world and the motivation behind everything he did. Cody worked hard every day to build a future for his little boy, pouring his heart into providing and caring for him.

Our community is heartbroken following Cody’s tragic passing after he was struck by an impaired driver in Bracebridge. No family should ever have to endure such a devastating and sudden loss. In the face of this tragedy, we are coming together to support the family Cody loved so deeply.

From now until Sunday, Sobeys in Gravenhurst will be accepting voluntary monetary donations at all checkout tills. There is absolutely no obligation to donate, but for those who wish to help, 100% of the funds collected—along with a separate donation from Sobeys in Gravenhurst—will be sent directly to Cody’s family to help support his young son and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.

Any contribution, no matter the amount, is sincerely appreciated. Your generosity will help provide comfort, stability, and support for Cody’s family as they navigate the unimaginable.

Thank you for standing with us, for showing compassion, and for helping us honour Cody’s memory. Together, we can ensure that his kindness, dedication, and love for his family continue to live on through the care and support we show one another.
