A rural Kansas community is mourning the sudden death of 59-year-old John Kanelakos, whose body was recovered after an extensive overnight search in a watershed east of Silverdale.

Cowley County Sheriff Dave Falletti said deputies were dispatched around 2:45 a.m. after a property owner reported Kanelakos’ truck parked nearby with its engine still running and no sign of the driver in the surrounding area.
