With profound sadness and heavy hearts, family members, friends, and the Hilo and Kailua-Kona communities are mourning the heartbreaking and untimely loss of Hinanui Starr-Boyle, who tragically passed away at just 21 years old following a devastating three-vehicle collision on Sunday evening.<\/p>\n
According to Hawaii police, the fatal crash occurred on Ali\u02bbi Drive near the north end of Kahalu\u02bbu Beach Park in Kailua-Kona. Investigators reported that Hinanui was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed when she attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone, entering the southbound lane and colliding head-on with a vehicle driven by a 20-year-old Holualoa man. Following the impact, the second vehicle continued onto the shoulder of the roadway, where it struck a parked van.<\/p>\n
Hinanui sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Kona Community Hospital, where, despite the efforts of medical personnel, she sadly succumbed to her injuries. She was pronounced deceased later that evening.<\/p>\n
