Authorities say the vehicle was struck from behind by a 2003 Ford Ranger driven by Timothy Best, 66, of Marion.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of the collision, Sandra Sayre&#8217;s 16-year-old son was standing behind the parked vehicle. He was struck during the impact and suffered critical injuries.<\/p>\n<p>Emergency responders rushed the teenager to Marion General Hospital, where medical teams fought to save his life. Tragically, despite their efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries.<\/p>\n<p>Sandra Sayre and two 14-year-old occupants inside the Mercedes sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital for treatment. Timothy Best also suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>The tragic incident has left a family facing an unimaginable loss and a community grieving the death of a young life filled with promise. A Fourth of July that should have been remembered for celebration has instead become a day marked by heartbreak.<\/p>\n<p>As authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, loved ones are left mourning a son, a family member, and a friend whose future was taken far too soon.<\/p>\n<p>We extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the teenager&#8217;s family, friends, classmates, and everyone affected by this devastating tragedy.
