In Loving Memory of a 16-Year-Old Marion Teen: Community Mourns After Heartbreaking Fourth of July Crash<\/p>\n
With profound sadness and heavy hearts, family members, friends, and the Marion, Ohio, community are mourning the heartbreaking loss of a 16-year-old boy whose life was tragically cut short in a devastating crash on the night of July 4, 2026.<\/p>\n
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the fatal collision occurred at approximately 10:42 p.m. on Likens-Chapel Road near Fairground Road in Marion Township.<\/p>\n
Investigators reported that a 2009 Mercedes-Benz M-Class, driven by Sandra Sayre, 46, of Marion, was parked facing northbound on the roadway. Authorities say the vehicle was struck from behind by a 2003 Ford Ranger driven by Timothy Best, 66, of Marion.<\/p>\n
At the time of the collision, Sandra Sayre’s 16-year-old son was standing behind the parked vehicle. He was struck during the impact and suffered critical injuries.<\/p>\n
Emergency responders rushed the teenager to Marion General Hospital, where medical teams fought to save his life. Tragically, despite their efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries.<\/p>\n
Sandra Sayre and two 14-year-old occupants inside the Mercedes sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital for treatment. Timothy Best also suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.<\/p>\n
The tragic incident has left a family facing an unimaginable loss and a community grieving the death of a young life filled with promise. A Fourth of July that should have been remembered for celebration has instead become a day marked by heartbreak.<\/p>\n
