On May 6, a tragic discovery was made off the waters near Linwood Beach Marina, where a capsized fishing boat was found approximately two and a half miles offshore. Search efforts led by the U.S. Coast Guard and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources resulted in the recovery of Chris within the hour, marking a heartbreaking end to the search.
While the details of that day are difficult to process, they cannot define the life he lived.
At 71, Chris “Stanley” Whitmer Sr. had built a life rich with experience, relationships, and memories.
