In Loving Memory of Arquel Rogers
With deep sadness and heartfelt remembrance, we honor the life of Arquel Rogers, a 34-year-old man whose life was tragically lost on West Hatch Road in Modesto.
On a Saturday night, what should have been an ordinary evening turned into an unthinkable tragedy along the roadway between Boise Avenue and Dallas Street. According to authorities, Arquel was struck while walking in the traffic lanes of West Hatch Road. Investigators report that he was first hit by an eastbound vehicle, followed by additional impacts from at least one—and possibly two—other vehicles. Despite emergency response, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suddenness and severity of the incident have left a community grappling with shock and sorrow. The Modesto Police Department Traffic Unit responded and closed the roadway for several hours as investigators worked carefully to document the scene, gather evidence, and piece together the sequence of events that led to the fatal collision.
While two drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities, reports indicate that another driver may have left before law enforcement arrived. The investigation remains active as officials continue to seek clarity and ask for additional witnesses to come forward.
But beyond the crash reports and investigation details, there is a human story that deserves to be remembered.
Arquel Rogers was more than the circumstances of his passing. He was a 34-year-old man with a life full of experiences, relationships, and moments that mattered to those who knew him. To his family and friends, he was someone with presence—someone who existed not as a statistic, but as a person who was known, valued, and loved.
His sudden passing leaves behind a silence that is difficult to describe. Loved ones are now left to navigate grief that comes without warning, without preparation, and without the chance to say goodbye. In these moments, memories become both a comfort and a reminder of what has been lost.
In remembering Arquel Rogers, we are reminded of how fragile life can be—how quickly ordinary moments can change forever. A life walking forward one instant can be gone the next, leaving behind questions, sorrow, and reflection.
For the Modesto community, this tragedy is a call to awareness and care—on the roads, in shared spaces, and in how we look out for one another. But most importantly, it is a moment to remember a life that mattered.
May Arquel Rogers be remembered not for how he died, but for who he was in life. And may his loved ones find strength, comfort, and support as they carry his memory forward in the days ahead.
Rest in peace.
