According to the Hanford Police Department, officers were dispatched shortly after 4:00 a.m. to a residence located on University Avenue near West Grangeville Boulevard following a 911 call. During the call, dispatchers reportedly heard a heated argument occurring in the background between individuals inside the home, prompting an urgent response.

When the first officer arrived at the scene, the sounds of an ongoing dispute could still be heard from within the residence. The officer announced his presence and attempted to intervene. Moments later, the situation escalated dramatically.

Authorities say that the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Vincent Diaz, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound shortly after police made contact at the scene. As officers conducted a protective sweep of the home, they discovered 25-year-old Adrian Valdovinos inside a bedroom, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
