James David North Accident Death Obituary: The Fort Wayne community mourns the loss of 69-year-old James David North, who was killed in a tragic accident involving a semi-truck on Thursday. The Allen County Coroner’s Office confirmed that North, a Fort Wayne resident, died from “multiple blunt impact injuries,” and his death has been officially ruled an accident.
The fatal crash occurred at the intersection of Illinois Road and Ansley Drive, east of I-69, around 3:30 p.m. on April 30. According to the Fort Wayne Police Department, North was traveling eastbound on Illinois Road when a semi-truck pulled out from a private drive, leading to a fiery collision.
North was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The semi-truck driver was unharmed and is cooperating with authorities. At this time, alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
This incident marks Allen County’s 11th traffic fatality in 2026, highlighting ongoing traffic safety concerns. The investigation remains active as authorities work to determine all contributing factors.
